About

Rachelle L. Blough C.T.R.S., C.D.P.

I’m a Certified Recreational Therapist, Certified Dementia Practitioner and Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP).

I’ve paired my two passions – helping older adults and teaching – to create a series of memory care and life enrichment courses for caregivers and senior living communities.  My lessons go beyond the lecture, and I incorporate an interactive style that engages participants and encourages the group to share stories and experiences in a way that is fun and approachable.

Experience:

Since 1995, I’ve immersed myself in the senior living world, working in various aspects of senior living, from skilled nursing to assisted living. I’ve held various roles from activities and sales to operations and regional/corporate-level positions, including:

  • Assistant Vice President of Quality of Life Programs and Corporate Director of Memory Care Services for a Chicago-based skilled nursing group – led the creation and standardization of memory care services for 10 skilled nursing communities.
  • National Director of Assisted Living and Memory Care Resident Enrichment Programming.
  • Vice President of Life Enrichment and Innovation for Bay Bridge Senior Living – established progressive and innovative assisted living and memory care programs.
  • Regional Director of Memory Care/Program Manager at Sunrise Senior Living – supported more than 100 communities in the Midwest and Canada; trained and coached Assisted Living Coordinators, Activities and Volunteer Coordinators and Alzheimer’s Program Directors throughout North America.
  • Multiple community-level positions including Activities Director, Program Director, Associate Executive Director, and Director of Community Relations.
